Congratulations! SHS team takes first place in the Olympics of the Visual Arts Competition
Congrats to the Schenectady High School Fashion team, which took first place in the statewide Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA) competition held Thursday at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
In the OVA competition, students are tasked with artistic problem-solving. The problem that the team had to solve was to make a dress out of paper that was botanically inspired. The SHS team crafted their design out of paper towels, tissue paper, masking tape painted and embellished with origami lotus and tissue paper roses. The inspiration was a traditional Indian wedding dress in the Indian Botanical Garden of Lalbagh in Bangalore and Indian designer Manish Malhotra.
The team was asked to perform in front of the entire audience to represent the high school level of the fashion category.
